Another cyberattack by the prolific Cyber Popular Army! This group of hackers attacked the airport’s public WiFi networks and all travelers connected to them. The group claimed responsibility for the “sniffing” of numerous personal data on its Twitter account:
It’s tempting to enjoy unlimited free Internet access while you’re waiting for your plane. Hackers know this and are setting up malicious WiFi networks with names very similar, if not identical, to the official networks. Unknowingly, thousands of passengers connect to hackers’ networks thinking they’re on airport WiFi. Moral: always prefer USB connection sharing from your smartphone to public WiFi networks.
It’s clear that airport travelers are in for one cyber mishap after another. Last week, the Twittosphere pinpointed bad cyber practices at the airport, with this passenger working on a confidential project in plain sight.
It’s a good lesson: always use a privacy filter when working in a public place.
